Sensitive Practice Workshop

Considerations for every Health Care Professional!  This one day workshop is the result of the research project from 1999 at Tamara's House.  The Thesis is now published and available at the University of Saskatchewan.

Research has shown that 1 in 3 to 4 women and 1 in 5 men have been abused and that health care professionals knowingly or unknowingly work with survivors on a frequent basis.  This seminar will present ways to work more sensitively and thus more successfully with adult survivors of childhood abuse.  Participants will examine the dynamics of violence, ways long term effects may be manifested and guidelines which represent ways that health care professionals can ensure their practice is sensitive to adult survivors.  Emphasis will be placed on examining ways that health care practitioners can integrate the principles and guidelines of sensitive practice into their own type of practice.  A MUST class for everyone working directly with people.

1pm to 5pm, Sunday June 10, 2012
